Chart Upload Not Working
Fix Chart Upload Issues
If you are having trouble uploading a chart to PatternPilotAI, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
Step 1: Check Your File Format
PatternPilotAI only accepts the following image formats:
- PNG (.png)
- JPG / JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
- WebP (.webp)
If your file is in a different format (such as GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, or PDF), you need to convert it first. Most image editing tools and online converters can save images as PNG or JPG.
How to Check Your File Format
- On Windows: Right-click the file, select Properties, and check the "Type of file" field
- On Mac: Right-click the file, select Get Info, and look at the "Kind" field
- On your phone: Open the file details or check the file name extension
Step 2: Check Your File Size
The maximum file size is 10MB. If your file exceeds this limit:
- Save as JPG instead of PNG (JPG files are typically much smaller)
- Crop the image to include only the chart area, removing toolbars, sidebars, and other interface elements
- Reduce the resolution slightly using an image editor. Charts at 1920x1080 work perfectly
- Use WebP format which provides good quality at smaller file sizes
Step 3: Try a Different Browser
Some browser extensions, privacy settings, or outdated browser versions can interfere with file uploads. Try:
- Google Chrome (recommended)
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
- Safari (on Mac/iOS)
If the upload works in a different browser, the issue is likely with your original browser's settings or extensions.
Step 4: Clear Your Browser Cache
Cached data can sometimes cause upload issues:
Chrome
- Click the three-dot menu in the top right
- Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data
- Select "Cached images and files"
- Click "Clear data"
- Refresh PatternPilotAI and try the upload again
Firefox
- Click the hamburger menu
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security
- Under "Cookies and Site Data," click "Clear Data"
- Check "Cached Web Content" and click "Clear"
Safari
- Go to Safari menu > Settings > Advanced
- Check "Show Develop menu in menu bar"
- Go to Develop > Empty Caches
Step 5: Mobile-Specific Troubleshooting
If you are uploading from a mobile device:
- Try the file picker instead of camera capture. Some devices have compatibility issues with direct camera uploads
- Alternatively, try camera capture if the file picker is not working
- Make sure your browser has permission to access your photos or files
- Try saving the chart image to your camera roll first, then uploading from there
Step 6: Check Your Internet Connection
A slow or unstable internet connection can cause uploads to fail or time out:
- Test your connection by loading other websites
- Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data (or vice versa) to see if that resolves the issue
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router if you have a weak signal
